About FRC 5813 Sisters 1

st

With 50 team members, FRC 5813 Sisters 1st is the largest rookie team ever formed in the FIRST Mid-Atlantic Region. Our team’s name honors the following:

  • FRC 5813 Sisters 1st is the first all-women’s FRC high school team in New Jersey.

  • We experience a daily sisterhood at Villa Walsh Academy.

  • We respect and admire the Religious Teachers Filippini who founded our school and teach us every day.

The process of designing, programming, and building an industrial size robot for a FIRST Robotics Competition provides students with STEM workforce experience while also developing essential collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills. FRC 5813 Sisters 1st  is dedicated to learning and applying new skills and technologies, creating a team identity, raising funds, and gaining respect by advancing STEM within our local community. Ideally, our team aspires to motivate that will young women everywhere to pursue careers in science, technology, business, and engineering.

Villa Walsh Academy

Villa Walsh Academy offers a college preparatory Catholic school education for young women in Grades 7 through 12. Steadfast in its commitment to educate young women as envisioned by St. Lucy Filippini, the founder of The Institute of the Religious Teachers Filippini, Villa Walsh Academy’s community seeks to inspire our young women to expand their intellectual breadth and depth, to enhance their sense of local and global concern, and to empower them to influence their world in a Christian manner.
